AI Content Prompts That Actually Work
A collection of copy-paste prompt templates for research, outlining, drafting, editing and fact-checking — with the structure that makes them effective.
A good prompt is a mini brief. These templates follow a structure — role, context, task, constraints, format — that reliably produces more useful output.
The prompt formula
Five ingredients: Role (who the model should be), Context (background the reader needs), Task (the specific job), Constraints (length, tone, audience), Format (headings, bullets, length).
Prompt templates
Copy, adapt, reuse:
- Research: "Role: researcher. Context: [topic]. Summarize the [number] key things a reader should know, with one concrete example each."
- Outlining: "Role: content strategist. Create an H2/H3 outline for a [type] post on [topic] targeting [audience]."
- Drafting: "Role: editor. Write a [word-count] draft of the [section] for [topic], in [tone], for [audience]."
- Editing: "Rewrite this paragraph to be more concise and specific. Keep my voice: [paste]."
- Fact-check alert: "List every claim in this draft that needs verification, and mark anything you're unsure about."
Tip
Use our content brief builder to generate the structure and questions, then turn them into prompts.
Important
Prompts produce drafts, not facts. Always verify claims against reliable sources before publishing.
